Take Care (Album Review) - Drake

Take Care

I'll be honest. I haven't been on the biggest Drake kick in the past year. I started off one of the biggest Drake fans when he came out and I heard So Far Gone. I thought and still think it was incredible. One the best mixtapes I have ever heard. And just a few years later we're discussing the 2nd album from probably the most hyped, loved, disliked artist of right now. And with this, he has definitely given people something to talk about. It's beyond the rising to fame for Drake that he rapped about in Thank Me Later. And you can hear the difference in his tone and just presence on every track. his tone is more commanding and hooks you on every word cause he knows it will be something you'll remember. With features that include his protege The Weeknd as well as hitting the home run and getting 3 stacks to hop on a track only can mean great things. It's truly enjoyable to listen to him rap about the lifestyle and fame he has achieved over the past few years. Track by track, how this is put together is remarkable. There aren't really songs that stick out as not matching in the album. It's so well put together from features, productions, to wordplay. In my opinion it's probably the best put project we have seen since My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Now calm down before you think I'm saying this is better than that album. But it certainly deserves credit. And it's more than getting people to listen to Drake. He's accomplished that with this album. Now, it's about the bigger picture. One of my favorite quotes from So Far Gone, "sitting in a chair but in my future there's a throne." Take Care is beyond just making a statement of an album. It's a proclamation you might not like it, but Drake has put himself in the top 3 category. With this album, he's inching closer to the throne.
